We can almost always expect some Republicans to go pure Squish House opposes Trump on immigration with move to help Haitians Several House Republicans joined Democrats to oppose President Donald Trump on his immigration policy Wednesday, forcing a vote on a measure to reinstate temporary protections for some 350,000 Haitians living in the United States. Six Republicans voted with 212 House Democrats and one independent reaching the threshold to advance the bill, which would keep Haitians eligible for temporary protected status [TPS] for three years. The program is intended for foreign nationals from countries facing dangerous conditions, such as armed conflict and environmental disasters. The vote was forced using an increasingly popular legislative tool called a discharge petition that allows 218 or more representatives to circumvent the House speaker to bring a vote to the floor. Final passage of the bill in the House is expected Thursday or Friday. “I have one of the largest Haitian populations in the country in my district,” said Rep. Michael Lawler (R-New York), who voted Wednesday push the bill to the House floor. “… If you end [temporary protections] without addressing work authorization, it will cause a huge crisis in our health care system, especially in an area like mine, where a lot of our Haitian TPS holders are nurses.” Why can’t we have Americans working as nurses? Why can’t they go home and apply for visas? One problem is that too many Americans are getting worthless degrees from college, to many ones that bring no value, rather than working for degrees that have value. “These 350,000 Haitian nationals are our neighbors. They’re valued members of our community,” said Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Massachusetts), who whipped support for the bill, in a video posted to her Instagram account this week. Pressley co-chairs the House Haiti Caucus. TPS: temporary. Not permanent. But, Democrats want them with a legal status that allows them to vote in local, county and state elections, and, whoops, the ballot happened to have federal offices on it. Our bad! Anyhow, because they want a few nurses, we have to keep all the ones who are pure 4th world (completely failed state). There’s a reason the Dominican Republic has a wall on it’s border with Haiti. LOL: ICE Ignores NJ Law On Masks
NJ had no problem with forcing citizens to wear (worthless) masks during COVID. They have no problem allowing wacko (Democrat) activists to wear masks. But, they actually thought they could dictate to federal law enforcement the way they could operate Ban on masks ignored by ICE agents during N.J. arrest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are being directed to not follow a New Jersey state law that prohibits federal officers from wearing masks during enforcement operations. In a recent raid, ICE agents from the Newark office arrested Rubiel Gabriel Nolasco, an undocumented individual from Mexico, in Jackson Township. He was taken into custody on April 1 by federal agents wearing masks, a township employee told the Asbury Park Press. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said agents will not remove their masks, calling a new state law “unconstitutional.” Gov. Mikie Sherrill in March signed three bills into law regarding ICE operations in New Jersey, one prohibiting local and federal law enforcement officers from wearing masks. “Sanctuary politicians attempting to ban our federal law enforcement from wearing masks is despicable and a flagrant attempt to endanger our officers,” the spokesperson told NJ.com. “ICE officers wear face coverings for one reason: To protect themselves and their families from real-world threats including agitators. The danger is not hypothetical.” Good luck enforcing the ban, Mikie. There aren’t many police officers in the state who would even consider trying to enforce it. And the few who do will end up arrested themselves Nolasco was arrested twice by Border Patrol agents in 2021 and was deported back to Mexico on both occasions, federal authorities said. He was arrested by Toms River police on July 29, 2024, on a domestic violence charge. Nolasco pleaded guilty to that charge. He also had pending charges for driving with a suspended license or registration, according to the ICE spokesperson. He is currently being detained and awaiting removal proceedings. Hey, maybe the story should have led with this. He committed a felony by coming back in, and, seriously, how bad did Nolasco have to be to be sent back to Mexico under the Biden regime? Then there’s the domestic violence charge.
