1. In a previous post, I noted that Markwayne Mullin, among his other, uh, eccentricities, is the only sitting US senator who doesn't have a bachelor's degree or higher.  That last qualifier is significant, as this page informed me that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) holds an MD but no bachelor's. When I tried to turn this into a SHQ question and fed it through DeepSeek, though, I ran into an issue.  DeepSeek informed me that there is yet another sitting senator with no bachelor's: Sen. John Boozman (R-AR). In addition to both being Republicans first elected to their seat in 2010 (for the 112th United States Congress) representing a state that borders both Missouri and Tennessee, both also (Brie Larson alert!) professionally specialized in eye care.  Following his MD from Duke Medical School (after not graduating from Baylor), Paul completed a residency in ophthalmology.  For his part, Boozman abandoned a baccalaureate at the University of Arkansas to get an OD from the Southern College of Optometry. 2. Situation Room is a photo taken by official White House photographer Pete Souza (1954- ) on May 1, 2011, in the White House's Situation Room showing President Barack Obama and a small circle of advisors receiving live updates about Operation Neptune Spear (the killing of Osama bin Laden). NSC staffer Audrey Tomason joins Hillary Clinton as the only women in the image; they were edited out in Hasidic publications like Di Tzeitung, in keeping with Tzniut 3. Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy is a Peking opera play that was one of the eight model plays approved by Jiang Qing during the Cultural Revolution.  Based on Qu Bo's novel Tracks in the Snowy Forest (1957), it fictionalizes a 1946 incident from the campaign to suppress bandits in northeast China during the Chinese Civil War.  A 1970 film adaptation "has been identified as one of the most watched films of all time."  There's also Tsui Hark's take on the original book, The Taking of Tiger Mountain (2014). Intriguingly, the title turns up in at least two American works that are at best vaguely influenced by the opera: Brian Eno's studio album Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) (1974) and the movie Taking Tiger Mountain (1983). The latter has a truly bizarre history.  Initially inspired by the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III and Albert Camus' The Stranger, it was shot c. 1974 in Wales with a cast of local nonprofessionals plus then-unknown Bill Paxton.  Paxton's friend Tom Huckabee purchased the footage and reshaped it into a project loosely based on, of all things, our old friend Blade Runner (a movie) by William S. Burroughs! In 2019, our old friends Vinegar Syndrome put out a 4K restoration of Taking packaged alongside Huckabee's alternate cut, Taking Tiger Mountain Revisited.
