Russ Vought Grilled by Dem Congressman Over $442 Billion Defense Increase, “I’m No Pacifist”
U.S. Representative Brendan Boyle (D-PA), Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, grilled Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Russ Vought on Wednesday regarding President Trump’s proposed 2027 budget, which includes a 42 percent increase in military spending. That amounts to a $442 billion increase “on top of an already record high for defense,” said Boyle. Boyle read aloud what President Trump had said at a private fundraising event earlier this month. Trump told the crowd that he told Vought, “don’t send any money for day care, because the United States can’t take care of day care. That has to be up to a state. We can’t take care of day care. Mike Lee Says Prison Guard “Scolded Me,” DOJ Reacts, “Unacceptable”
MAGA-aligned U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), who received Sen. Chuck Grassley‘s (R-IA) recommendation to replace Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito (should he retire), complained today of rude treatment he received on the phone from a federal prison employee when Lee called to check in on an inmate. [NOTE: Grassley also mentioned Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as a potential candidate to replace Alito.] As seen below, Lee said he received a call from “a constituent whose son is in federal prison and said he hasn’t heard from his son in several days (which is unusual for him), that his son suffers from multiple, potentially life-threatening health conditions that are going untreated in prison, and that he needed to know whether his son was still alive.” Lee said when he called, identified himself, and explained why he was calling, the person who picked up the phone “scolded me three times for calling ‘too [expletive] late’ and refused to tell me anything.” The man eventually confirmed that the inmate was “alive and receiving the treatment he needs,” although, according to Lee, the parents said that wasn’t true. Lee said the man on the phone refused to provide his name and hung up on the Senator. Lee wrote: “That’s not okay. MAGA candidate Paul Dans, who dropped out of the GOP South Carolina senatorial primary on Friday, ending his attempt to unseat incumbent Senator Lindsey Graham, responded defiantly to President Trump’s post about his decision to withdraw. The President, who has endorsed Graham, criticized Dans’ campaign by writing: “It all started to fall apart for Paul when a very Low IQ individual named Tucker Carlson ENDORSED him — THE KISS OF DEATH!” [NOTE: Carlson, along with other MAGA/America First influencers, has criticized Trump (and Graham) for initiating the Iran war, portraying the decision as reckless and “America Last.”] Dans replied to Trump: “Mr. President I am glad the people of South Carolina have finally got someone’s attention in DC.
